TAL reveals Risk Academy program for second half of year

TAL has released its Risk Academy program for the final six months of 2025, outlining its direction for the second half of 2025.

The program, which has been running for 10 years, aims to help “advisers grow their knowledge, enhance client outcomes and stay ahead in an evolving industry”.

According to TAL, the lessons on offer in the second half of the year range from expert-led sessions on legislative change and ethics to expanded support for professional year candidates and tailored webinars for client service teams.

“With TAL Risk Academy, we’re building long-term partnerships – supporting advisers with knowledge and tools that help them deliver great outcomes for their clients and grow thriving, sustainable practices,” Gavin Teichner, chief executive individual life at TAL, said.

“Our 10-year milestone is not just about longevity. It’s about the positive impact of supporting advisers through every stage of their career with practical and relevant and expert-led training.”

Sessions on offer include an Ethical Dilemmas Workshop, led by the TAL Technical Team which the insurer said would go “into actual client scenarios and discusses whether these are permitted according to the code of ethics”.

This follows “Ethics Month”, which it hosted in May and attracted more than 2,000 adviser enrolments, with TAL dubbing October “Mini Ethics Month”.

The July–December program will also include sessions hosted by industry leaders, including Phil Anderson, general manager, policy, advocacy and standards at the FAAA, who’s session will “unpack the implications of recent legislative updates, regulatory shifts and the role of life insurance in the evolving advice landscape”.

Other programs on offer include a financial adviser exam masterclass, a risk advice and strategy workshop, and a client conversations workshop, as well as an on-demand seminar named, “Getting the most out of your Professional Year”, hosted by TAL partnership educator Danielle Waugh.

TAL will also be launching a new monthly series tailored to service teams. TAL highlighted these sessions will “offer practical strategies to improve administrative processes, client communication and retention, delivering everyday value and fostering connection with the broader advice community”.

“Advisers want content that’s relevant, practical and delivered by experienced professionals. Education is a core pillar of how we support advisers, and we’ve seen rising demand for high-quality training, particularly around ethics as the advice industry continues to evolve,” said Jason Bamford, TAL national sales development manager.
