AFA names 2017 long service award winner

The AFA has announced Godfrey Phillips as the winner of the AFA Michael Murphy Award at the association’s conference on the Gold Coast today.

Mr Phillips, director of self-licensed boutique Godfrey Phillips & Associates, has represented the AFA on various industry committees for more than a decade and has several contributions, especially on mentoring advisers. Mr Phillips has been a member of the AFA since 1977.

“Godfrey leads by example and has mentored and inspired many members of the AFA community at various stages of their career and is a profound believer in the value of advice and a strong advocate for advisers,” said AFA national president Marc Bineham.

“This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first AFA conference held in Sydney in 1977 and, as Godfrey was an attending member at that inaugural event, it is fitting for him to receive the 2017 AFA Michael Murphy Award.”

The AFA Michael Murphy Award is the highest distinction that can be awarded to an AFA member.
