  1. Changes must be made to avoid adviser exodus by 2026

Following a pair of opinion pieces on why there could be a “mass exodus” of advisers if the current requirement for existing advisers with no degree to have an approved qualification by 1 January 2026 is not addressed, The Advisers Association chief executive Neil Macdonald joined the ifa Show to discuss the topic in depth.

He shared his opinion on the matter and what he would like to see the government and regulators do before 2026.

  1. The rise of managed accounts

It turns out advisers were interested in hearing about managed accounts, tuning in to hear BT’s head of managed accounts, Zac Leman, and head of platforms ,Chris Mather, talk about the rise of the service.

The pair looked at the growth of managed accounts from a niche offering to mainstream use for advisers over the past 20 years, and why the pandemic accelerated its importance.

  1. EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Stephen Jones

Before the federal election and he got the nod as Financial Services Minister and Assistant Treasurer, then-shadow minister Stephen Jones joined Momentum Media’s editor of mortgages, Annie Kane, for an exclusive chat through the ALP’s assessment of the financial services industry.

Take a look back on the new government’s plans to revamp education requirements and hear the minister’s thoughts on the treatment of advisers under the old regime.

  1. The impact of the retirement income covenant on advice

Ahead of the retirement income covenant coming into effect on 1 July 2022, advisers listened to what Challenger general manager of retail distribution Luke Cheetham had to say on the topic.

He discussed the industry reaction to the covenant, which requires funds to have a retirement strategy in place for its members, what it will mean for retirees, and where financial advisers will find both challenges and opportunities.

  1. We go one on one with the QAR reviewer

The podcast that got the most advisers listening for 2022 involves, to the surprise of no one, the QAR and its reviewer, Michelle Levy.

She joined the ifa Show in August to talk through how the report was progressing at the time and her thoughts on the current state of the advice sector, as well as the role of regulators in improving the industry and her hopes for the recommendations.
