Tribeca Financial has announced the appointment of senior financial adviser, Matthew Rea, as its newest Melbourne-based partner.

Rea joins Tribeca chief executive Ryan Watson, chairman Brad Fox, Melbourne partner and head of advice Robert Devlin, and Sydney partner and senior adviser Peter Higgins.

Watson said that upon joining the firm, Rea quickly found his place among the team, building strong relationships with clients and co-workers.

“Matt’s energy, expertise and leadership saw him progress quickly to senior adviser. It was a natural evolution for Matt to progress to partner and we couldn’t be happier and look forward to him helping shape the future direction of Tribeca,” Watson said.

Prior to joining Tribeca in 2020, Rea worked at Fennell West in his hometown of Warrnambool for more than five years, progressing from an associate adviser in 2015 to full financial adviser in 2018. He also previously worked as an associate adviser at Ambleside Wealth Advisers.

Speaking on the announcement, Rea said he is pleased to take on this new role.

“Moving to Melbourne in 2020 and finding Tribeca, I was instantly impressed by my colleagues and quickly became proud to be a part of the Tribe. I’m looking forward to taking on a bigger role in Tribeca’s growth and contributing to the financial advice profession,” Rea said.

The firm said its initiative to bring on new partners aligns with its goal of “expanding a client-focused financial wellbeing practice, while also supporting career growth in financial advice”.

Watson said the addition will strengthen the firm and its commitment to supporting talent within the profession.

“Matt brings valuable experience and fresh perspectives that will strengthen Tribeca’s service to both new and existing clients. His addition as partner reaffirms our belief that we’re in the ’people business’,” Watson said.

“Though we provide financial advice, our success depends on the commitment of our Tribe and the trust of our clients. Having talented professionals like Matt, Robert Devlin, Sean Birch, Peter Higgins and Brad Fox as partners demonstrates that Tribeca is a destination for top talent and confirms that we’re on the right track.”

In July 2024, Tribeca announced its expansion with the appointment of Higgins as a partner and senior adviser and subsequent opening of its new office in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Speaking in July, Watson said the move was part of Tribeca’s vision to foster growth within the advice profession.

“Tribeca is always on the lookout for exceptional talent aligned with our purpose, vision, and values. Early conversations with Peter revealed not only his remarkable ability in financial advice but also his alignment with Tribeca’s vision for financial wellbeing advice,” Watson said at the time.
