10. Dive deep into the future of financial advice with Minister Stephen Jones

Coming in 10th is ifa’s exclusive interview with Financial Services Minister Stephen Jones, who shared his candid assessment of recent progress in financial advice.

Minister Jones gave his views on consumer protection, Michelle Levy’s good advice model, strategies to encourage funds to offer advice, the enactment of the experience pathway, and much more. This is a must-watch episode.

9. How much control does your dealer group have over you?

In this episode of the ifa Show, Conaill Keniry, founder of What If Advice and owner of small dealer group Cobalt Advisers, discussed the power struggle that many advisers face with their dealer groups.

According to Mr Keniry, many advisers are in the dark to the extent of a dealer group’s control over their business, from revenue to the release of clients.

8. What’s in the government’s QAR response?

The same week that Minister Stephen Jones unveiled the government’s response to the Quality of Advice Review (QAR) final report, accepting in principle 14 of the 22 recommendations, host Maja Garaca Djurdjevic sat down with ifa journalist Keith Ford to unpack the contents.

The pair gave an overview of what the government has announced, including the “quick wins” in its first stream, and cover some of the more controversial aspects of the QAR.

7. Why this ex-lawyer turned adviser is excited about the future of advice

In February, Nicola Beswick sat down with ifa to detail the emotional journey that led her to abandon her career as a lawyer and pursue one in financial advice.

As the chair of the Pro Bono Financial Advice Network, where she and multiple other advisers assist Australians living with a personal health crisis to improve their financial wellbeing, Ms Beswick delved into how financial advisers are making a difference in people’s lives.

6. There’s a solution for the SoA logistical bottleneck

Just on the cusp of the top five most listened to episodes this year, Asendium chief executive officer Scott Miller broke down how advice has changed since his days as an adviser.

From swelling paperwork to statement of advice (SoA) management and customisation, Mr Miller addressed some of the most pressing issues hitting the industry today.
