Industry body launches lost insurance service

An industry body has launched a service for life insurance clients affected by the NSW floods to help connect them with policy details that may be missing as a result of the destruction of their property.

In a statement, FSC chief executive Sally Loane said flood victims who had lost their policy details as a result of damage to their homes could utilise the council’s service to connect them with their member insurers.

“The life insurance industry is working together to ensure every affected person can check their records and be reunited with their life insurance policy details,” Ms Loane said.

“There are a few scenarios where we can help, for example, if you need to make a claim for a relative in the case of a fatality; if you have been injured and can’t work; or if you have simply lost your policy documents and details.”

Ms Loane said the service was available for individual rather than group insurance policies.

Affected individuals, or someone acting on their behalf with consent, could email the FSC with their contact details and the details of the person insured who had lost their policy.
