Risk veteran launches insurance guide and adviser directory

Aiming to educate consumers on life insurance and the process involved in getting cover, the resource also provides a directory to get risk advisers in front of potential clients.

Just over two years after launching Risk Hub – a centralised platform delivering resources, tools, and industry connections for life insurers and advisers – founder Marc Fabris has expanded the offering with Life Insurance Guide.

The new website aims to provide Australian consumers with a “plain-language information about life insurance and the steps involved in getting cover”, while also reinforcing the role of professional advice in the risk insurance process.

“Life insurance is often misunderstood and seen as complex,” Fabris said.

“Our aim is to simplify the conversation – giving people knowledge and confidence and then helping them connect with professional advisers when they’re ready to take the next step.”

Part of Life Insurance Guide is an adviser directory, which provides advisers with visibility among consumers looking for life insurance information, while also allowing them to utilise the site’s resources for in-client conversations.

Advisers will also be able to contribute content, providing “additional reach for their own expertise and building further trust online”.

The site launched with a number of risk advisers already participating in the directory, with Milbourne Insurance Solutions’ Paul Milbourne saying it is an “extra resource I can point clients to when they want to read more in their own time”.

“I like that the site keeps things simple for consumers but still positions advice as the logical next step,” Milbourne said.

Calibre Life’s Nicole Bendeich added: “Life insurance is where the protection conversation starts. By reshaping how we promote it, we can better meet young Australians, help them view insurance as part of their wealth goals, while also connecting them with specialists who truly understand this sector.

“I value that Life Insurance Guide gives clients accessible information and supports much-needed consumer education.”

Trish Gregory from Hayes & Co Insurance Services also backed the site.

“It’s wonderful to see niche content online that helps consumers and referral partners understand the importance of insurance, without overcomplicating it,” she said.

“Then to direct those that want personal advice to a licensed adviser that’s right for them.”

Speaking with ifa, Fabris said the main benefits for advisers participating in the directory boil down to brand exposure, getting your content in front of potential clients and lead potential.

“The idea here is that there’s potential leads from other clients, but I see this more as supporting [adviser’s] current efforts, supporting them to get their name out there,” he said.

Fabris added: “It gives you the chance for your content to get more exposure, more chance of being found on search, but also when someone comes on the site, you’ll actually just get more exposure.”

For consumers, there will be guides and articles providing clear explanations of life insurance, ownership and claims. There are also insights outlining the typical journey from first thinking about cover through to applying and claiming, and practical resources advisers can share or reference to support conversations.

“We’re helping close the gap in consumer education with clear, neutral information that isn’t sales-driven, while also providing content advisers can see as genuinely supporting their work,” Fabris added.
