Current HSBC chief underwriter for Hong Kong Mick Jones will take up the role with MLC Life in August, reporting in to MLC Life chief underwriter Debbie Kennedy.
“Mick is a highly respected leader in the life insurance industry and joins us as we begin a new era of underwriting,” Ms Kennedy said.
“His experience across Australia and Asia will be invaluable as we seek to bring this important function into the digital age, develop our team and provide a more streamlined and efficient process for customers and advisers.”
Mr Jones’ main responsibilities will include managing the company’s national underwriting team and enhancing the digital underwriting platform launched by the business in April 2018.
Last month, MLC Life said in a statement that the digital platform had seen ‘straight-through’ acceptance rates for life insurance policies triple within two months.
