Licensees need to support advisers through ‘extraordinary circumstances’

FASEA is encouraging licensees to take “a supportive approach” to compliance as the coronavirus forces the cancellation of face-to-face CPD offerings.

FASEA is urging licensees to support advisers with adjustments to CPD policy.

“FASEA encourages licensees to take a supportive approach to compliance in these extraordinary circumstances,” FASEA said in a statement.

“In the current extraordinary circumstance licensees will no doubt be reviewing and, where appropriate, adjusting their CPD policy to include appropriate provisions.”

FASEA listed video conferencing and webinar technology options as some of the appropriate alternatives to face-to-face offerings. FASEA also understands that solutions are being offered by licensee CPD programs that contain online learning as part of a led or conducted CPD program.

“Licensee CPD policies are required to include potential relief provisions to assist the needs of advisers affected by extenuating circumstances (including medical),” FASEA said.

“Advisers affected in this way should consider contacting their licensee to determine the most appropriate approach to their individual position.

Coronavirus has also seen the cancellation of FASEA’s April 2020 exams, something that FASEA said “is in the best interest of all people involved with the exam”.

“FASEA is conscious of the need to continue to offer exams through the remainder of 2020 to enable existing advisers to meet the legislated time frame,” FASEA said in a statement.

“The exam provider, ACER, will make the April exam available to registered candidates as a remote online option – irrespective of the distance to an exam centre. An option to defer until June or a later sitting is also available to candidates.”

I am licensed through AMPFP. I have complete and utter confidence that they will cause the upheaval of COVID-19 to rip more money off me and take away any probability of me leaving them with an ounce of dignity. They are deliberately destroying people’s lives so they will use this to their advantage — which is different from FASEA who are incompetent and accidentally destroying people’s lives. Whilst the end result is the same the methods are different.

I find it hard to believe that any licensee, in particular the big end of town, will look after their advisors. They havent looked after them over the past 12 months or so, they wont start now.

Big end of town could not care about the advisers. Just a numbers game and profit margin to them.

can someone send a memo to ASIC and let them what is going on in the economy. They are still operating as Business as Usual and ready and willing to throw planners, their businesses and families under the Corona Virus Bus. While you are at it, Earth to FPA/AFA – how about communicating to Govt & ASIC that nearly 100% of FP businesses are SMALL BUSINESSES.. as much as I want to be immune from the economic pain, the fact is that we are not. Can you just do your job and remind them of this small little point.

While the sentiment seems to be ‘take care of the advisers’, I find it extremely difficult to swallow coming from this mob! In fact, I even suspect those at FASEA would be more concerned about their possible drop in revenue and income than adviser welfare.

If they were concerned at all about advisers, they wouldn’t have forced unbelievably unfair education requirements on us all which forced the premature closure of many honest, hardworking, long standing advisers and their businesses.
