The annual AMP Abseil for Youth raises funds for the Sir David Martin Foundation to help troubled youths access rehabilitation programs.

Sydney Financial Planning founder William Bracey was one of the 200 participants this year who accepted the 118-metre vertical challenge, raising $5,000 for the charity in the process.

“This was just a small token of thanks to the foundation for the great work it does,” Mr Bracey said.

“I hope Sydney Financial Planning’s involvement has helped highlight the importance of community, charity and action.”

ifa journalist and features editor of sister publication SMSF Adviser Katarina Taurian also faced her fears by abseiling down the iconic building.

Funds raised during the event go to the Sir David Martin Foundation Triple Care Farm, which provides a 12-week rehabilitation program. So far, the event has raised over $336,485, including a $10,000 donation from the AMP Foundation.

The organisation said it costs $22,000 to rehabilitate a young person through the Triple Care Farm program; juvenile detention costs roughly $150,000 per person.
