The group has donated money as part of its ongoing support to both Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hopsital (RPAH) and the Love Mercy Foundation which works to empower North Uganda children through education and healthcare.

“We relish the opportunity to give the Fortnum Foundation a global footprint,” Fortnum executive chairman Ray Miles said.

“Contributing to the wellbeing of disadvantaged children, both nationally and internationally, is an invaluable investment in the future prosperity of our country and our global neighbours.”

For RPAH, Fortnum has financed a pair of emergency and procedural trollies to be used across the hospital’s newborn intensive care department as well as its nursery and high dependency units.

In addition, the group provided RPAH with a cheque for a further $1500 to support former patients born prematurely who continue to struggle with language development.

The money will be used to purchase books for a reading program led by developmental paediatrician Dr Ingrid Rieger.

“The written word is a powerful tool for growing young minds and a valuable vehicle in education,” Miles said.

“I am delighted to support the wonderful work of the paediatric experts at the RPAH.”

Fortnum has also extended this reach overseas, by raising more than $30,000 for the Love Mercy Foundation to aid in the development of a new hospital in the Awake Village area.

The funds have also worked to provide purchase beds, medical supplies and staff wages.
