Future2’s fifth annual fundraiser, the Wheel Classic, aims to raise more than $100,000 to bring “new opportunity and hope” to those in need, according to a statement by the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

So far, 12 financial planners have committed to the riding the full distance – 1,100 kilometres – over nine days. The route takes cyclists to centres such as Maitland, Gloucester, Armidale, Warwick and Toowoomba, the statement said.

AMP is the event’s gold partner, while Matrix Planning Solutions and the FPA are silver partners, the statement said.

Future2 chair Steve Helmich thanked AMP for its continuing support of the Wheel Classic, recognising “the immense contribution made by many AMP employees and authorised representatives to Future2 fundraising over the years”.

AMP Financial Planning and Hillross managing director Michael Guggenheimer said “our ongoing partnership with the Future2 Wheel Classic is invaluable in helping drive support for financially disadvantaged young Australians”.

“Financial advisers play an important role in helping their local communities to prosper and grow, and this event provides a good opportunity for our advisers to get involved in the fundraising or supporting riders along the route,” Mr Guggenheimer said.
