ClearView creates new position to lead life insurance team

The financial services company has announced the appointment of a newly created chief claims officer position.

Joanne Faglioni will join ClearView this week from Zurich Australia where she also worked as chief claims officer.

“In life insurance, claims management is critical. The claims team is responsible for honouring and executing an insurer’s promise to be there for customers when they need them the most,” Ms Faglioni said.

“ClearView has an excellent reputation for paying claims and treating customers with compassion, empathy and respect, and I am excited about joining and continuing to build the team and drive strong outcomes.”

Ms Faglioini has over 25 years of financial services experience – including 12 years in senior claims – and has also previously worked at ANZ Wealth.

ClearView general manager life insurance Gerard Kerr said Ms Faglioni is highly respected and the ideal candidate to lead the group’s claims division.

“Over the past 11 years, ClearView has grown significantly and the volume and complexity of claims has increased. In addition, the industry’s claims processes have come under greater scrutiny and regulatory oversight in recent years, which will only continue,” Ms Faglioni said.

“To ensure a consistently excellent customer experience, we are continuously strengthening our claims capabilities by investing in people, processes and systems.

“This is an important part of the group’s multi-year transformation program.”

The news comes after ClearView completed the sale of its financial advice businesses to Centrepoint Alliance in November.

Clearview has arguably the best claims department in the country headed up by an outstanding manager in Lee-Ann Barnard. Why would you fix something that is clearly not broken?

There’s a clear track record of Jo’s success. Just look at what she did with the claims team in Zurich after the OnePath merge. She took a claims team that was clearly inferior and turned it around. Very excited to see what she does over there at ClearView.
