AIA offers advisers assistance to manage LIF

Life insurer AIA Australia is set to host a series of forums to outline its plans to assist advisers in transition with the Life Insurance Framework.

AIA said the forums, to be held in September and October across Australia, are designed to help advisers understand the potential impacts of the insurance reforms on their businesses, both in the short and medium term.

They will also provide advisers with the opportunity to give feedback on future product design, and on how the insurer can improve its overall service delivery.

AIA chief retail officer Pina Sciarrone said it was important for advisers and insurers to work together when addressing the reforms.

“We understand that with the latest reforms, advisers are currently facing a difficult change to the way they do business,” she said.

“That’s why we are fully committed to helping advisers transition in the best possible way to ensure both the sustainability of their businesses, and the ability of consumers to access quality advice and affordable life cover into the future.”

The forums follow recent “efficiency improvements” made by the insurer to the life insurance application process with the introduction of the Tele-Application and Client Complete services.

“The Tele-Application service enables AIA Australia to complete the application with clients directly, rather than with the adviser, while Client Complete allows clients to complete an intuitive application in their own time online,” a statement from AIA said.

“Both services increase the amount of information that can be submitted online, thereby reducing the administrative process for clients and advisers.”

The best assistance AIA (or any other insurer) could offer is to say they don’t support the FSC’s advice killing position on LIF.

AIA cannot hide behind the FSC or the government on this. The govt is being heavily swayed by the FSC, and the FSC is driven by its members like AIA.

Don’t pretend that you’re helping us Pina, by providing token assistance for a gigantic problem you have created and you could easily stop.
