The award launch will be hosted by Inspire, an AFA Community of Practice focused on providing opportunities for professional networking, coaching, mentoring, leadership and personal growth among women in financial services.

AFA chief executive Brad Fox said the award, now in its sixth year, demonstrates the AFA’s commitment to helping outstanding women in the advice profession receive the recognition they deserve.

“This award stands not only to acknowledge women who are excelling but also to inspire our profession as a whole to rethink the way we deliver advice,” Mr Fox said.

“Part of our mission is to encourage more women to consider financial advice as a career and more women to take on managerial roles in the industry.

“Another important aim is to encourage more women in the community to seek financial advice,” Mr Fox said.

Judges on the award panel this year include Mr Fox; TAL general manager of retail distribution Niall McConville; Elixir Consulting managing director Sue Viskovic; Jade Financial Group director Dianne Charman; and Dartnall Advisers principal Eleanor Dartnall.

Speakers scheduled to present at the Inspire Inspiration roadshow include Beddoes Institute director Rebecca Sheils; winner of the 2015 Female Excellence in Advice Award, Sharon Walker of NAB Financial Planning; and AFA national president and principal Deborah Kent.

The roadshow will be held in major cities around the country, starting in Adelaide on 17 May and finishing in Sydney on 26 May.

The 2016 winner of the award will be announced at the AFA’s National Adviser Conference in Canberra on 7 October.
