Westpac has appointed former HSBC Hong Kong chief executive Anita Fung to its board of directors.
In a statement, the bank said Ms Fung is expected to commence on the board from 1 October 2018, and will also serve on Westpac’s risk and compliance committee and its Asia advisory board.
Commenting on the appointment, Westpac chair Lindsay Maxsted said Ms Fung will be a boon for the company.
“Anita is a highly respected figure in the Asia-Pacific region. She has extensive experience in wholesale and retail banking and alongside her active promotion of the development of the Asian financial landscape, provides diversity of experience and skills to the board,” he said.
“Her deep and current knowledge of the banking sector will be a valuable asset in executing Westpac’s strategic priorities.”
