Vanguard Investments Australia has been named Fund Manager of the Year by research house Morningstar.
In a statement, Morningstar announced the winners of its annual awards which recognise Australia’s best funds and fund managers.
Vanguard earned nominations in four categories and won the overall award as well as the multi-sector category “in a year when active fund managers struggled to outperform the market in many asset classes,” the statement said.
“The firm’s disciplined approach, low costs, and low portfolio turnover continue to deliver enviable outcomes for investors, and Vanguard also deserves credit for its unceasing efforts to raise investor education standards in both Australia and around the world.”
SGH ICE/Equity Trustees took out the domestic equities small-caps category, and PIMCO/Equity Trustees the award for fixed income.
Investors Mutual won for domestic equities, Arrowstreet Capital for international equities and Cromwell Phoenix Property Securities for the listed property category.
Morningstar Australasia director of manager research ratings Tom Whitelaw said all the winners have “shown themselves to be first-class stewards of investor capital”.
