An award-winning business journalist, Aleks has broken some of the major news stories affecting the financial planning and wealth management sector in recent years. Prior to joining Sterling Publishing, Aleks spent a number of years abroad, cutting his teeth in the London trade press and as a freelancer in West Africa. He has a Masters in Media Practice and Bachelor of Economics from Sydney University. He was crowned Editor of the Year (Business) at the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards 2014.

Phillip Tarrant, managing editor
Phillip is a media professional and has amassed over 12 years’ experience reporting on the mortgage, financial services, investment and property markets, Phillip sits on the Board of Publishers Australia, which represents best practice, innovation and professionalism in publishing as well as on the Board of the Property Investment Professionals of Australia (PIPA), the peak industry body for the property investment industry. Phillip holds bachelor and masters degrees in political science and international relations.

Alex Whitlock, group publisher
Alex is a veteran in mortgage and financial services publishing. Following several years working in the publishing sector in Hong Kong with titles such as the Far East Economic Review, Alex launched Australia’s first independent mortgage industry magazine in 2001 and has since successfully launched and published a number of other titles for mortgage, financial services and real estate professionals.

John Briggs

John Briggs, national sales manager
John has over twenty five years of media strategy and media sales experience covering some of Australia’s largest companies and B2B publishers including advertising director of Australia’s first publication for the wealth management sector. John’s experience covers business, finance, wealth management and pharmaceutical media strategy and sales as well as sports management. He has also contributed to a book on small business and developed a reference book on international media buying for an international advertising agency. John is also a recipient of the John Sexton Memorial Award for media from RMIT University.
