Mr Collins, principal of Risk Insurance Communication Skills, has received the award for his service to business and in particular the financial advice industry.
“I am extremely honoured to have received the Order of Australia Medal,” Mr Collins said.
“Financial advising has been both my life and my passion and it is wonderful to be recognised for work that I love doing and which I believe makes a significant difference to the lives of everyday Australians,” he said.
Mr Collins, who specialised in risk insurance for 40 years, qualified for the international Million Dollar Round Table in 1972 and is now a life member of the organisation’s honour roll.
He is also a life member of the AFA and in 2003 he was the winner of the AFA’s inaugural Award of Merit.

Fantastic, Russell! Thoroughly deserved.
Wonderful recognition and certainly well deserved Russell. Congratulations. Totally support Grahame’s call that you are one of life’s gentlemen. A tireless giver.
Great recognition Russell of your good work & the broader provision of wealth protection for Australians
Well deserved!
Congrats Russell, well deserved!!!! Should be front page of every piece of print media as we have certainly dominated the headlines the past few years…..
The entire AFA community couldn’t be prouder Russell. It is deserved recognition!
Congratulations Russell. As well as one of life’s gentlemen, you are certainly, one of the best advocates & advertisements for our industry.
Great that Russell has been acknowledged by this Award. Pity the media don’t report the good stories on the difference that these advisers make to people’s live. Maybe the 7.30 Report could do a story on Russell to make up for the the one-sided insurance story they did last Thursday!
Congratulations to a great profession advocate – Well deserved!
Well done Russ and well deserved!
