The global asset manager has partnered with AI safety and research company Anthropic and, so-called transformation company, Percepta, backed by General Catalyst, to develop what it described as AI-native tools for both its investment and distribution teams.
The initiative will see Janus Henderson develop two proprietary platforms: PRISM, a client intelligence and engagement tool for distribution teams, and LIBROS, a research management platform for investment professionals. Both will be powered by Anthropic’s Claude AI model.
According to Janus Henderson, PRISM is designed to help client-facing staff identify engagement opportunities, analyse internal and external data, and prepare personalised communications for investors.
Meanwhile, LIBROS will combine Janus Henderson’s internal research with external research and public market data to help analysts and portfolio managers surface investment insights more efficiently.
Beyond the two dedicated platforms, Janus Henderson said it would deploy Claude more broadly across the business, including Claude Code for engineering teams and Cowork for employees across investment, distribution and corporate functions.
Percepta will work alongside Janus Henderson’s investment, distribution and technology teams to build the tools and connect them with the firm’s proprietary research, client and market datasets.
The move comes as asset managers increasingly explore how generative AI can be integrated into investment processes, with firms seeking to improve productivity while maintaining human oversight of investment decisions.
According to the firms, one of the barriers to AI adoption across asset management has been the difficulty of applying generic AI products to highly specialised investment and client-service workflows.
Rather than purchasing a standalone software solution, the partnership aims to integrate AI into existing business processes and decision-making frameworks.
Janus Henderson chief executive Ali Dibadj said: “We believe AI Transformation will fundamentally change the way asset managers serve their clients when it is embedded at the core of the business.”
“This collaboration with Anthropic and Percepta builds on Janus Henderson’s partnership with Trian and General Catalyst, adds to our innovative leadership in AI and tokenisation, and supports our ambition to be the most technologically sophisticated asset manager in the world.
“We believe it will enhance how we deliver for our clients – the 75 million people worldwide who rely on us to build a brighter future together.”
Peter Nolan, head of asset and wealth management at Anthropic, said asset management was well suited to AI because of its reliance on research and information processing.
“Asset management is a knowledge-intensive industry where reliable AI can help teams work faster and serve clients better,” Nolan said.
“Janus Henderson is putting Claude directly into the hands of the teams managing investments and client relationships: from purpose-built tools like PRISM and LIBROS to Claude Code and Cowork across the firm.”
The announcement forms part of a broader technology push by Janus Henderson, announcing earlier this month its plans to acquire German private markets manager Rantum Capital as it looks to expand its European private credit capabilities and strengthen its presence in the DACH region.
The asset manager has also increasingly highlighted technology and innovation as strategic priorities as it looks to grow its private markets capabilities and broaden its distribution reach.
