Future Group embarks on digital advice

Future Group is the latest super fund to go down the digital route, partnering with Bravura Solutions to offer members digital advice through Midwinter.

This comes at a time when super funds are increasingly pushing and embracing digital advice as a solution to help service more customers, particularly pre-retirees.

Describing the digital experiences as cost-effective and seamless, the advice offering will be rolled out across its six insurance and super brands, capturing its 400,000 members.

According to Future Group, the partnership will enable personalised and compliant retirement advice at scale, positioning it as an alternative to expensive traditional planning offered by in person advisers.

“We’ve had a collaborative approach from the outset, allowing us to focus on a clear and collective vision: how we guide our members to a sustainable retirement, while also considering their individual circumstances and goals,” Rosh Singappuli, general manager partnerships and advice at Future Group, said.

Future Group said the technology has been embedded directly into the Future Super member app, allowing member details to be pre-populated throughout the digital advice journey, with results then fed back into the platform in a bid to reduce friction and improve member confidence.

According to the group, the rollout is aimed at allowing members with simpler advice needs to self-serve digitally, while freeing up advisers to focus on more complex cases, improving both efficiency and service quality across the business.

The first phase of the rollout is set to deliver a pre-retirement advice journey, enabling members to access retirement projections based on their personal circumstances, explore wealth accumulation strategies tailored to their goals and risk appetite, and receive real-time guidance around contribution strategies designed to boost retirement savings.

The group also said members would be able to adjust investment settings based on their preferences through a member-led digital experience, receive statements of advice (SOAs) in real time, and access a public calculator tool intended to support initial engagement.

“The approach taken by Future Group moves beyond guidance alone. It provides members with clear, personal advice so they can take real action, not just understand their options,” Singappuli said.

Michelle Lusty, head of Midwinter Advice Products, added: “The partnership is a signal to the broader superannuation industry: mid-sized funds don’t have to choose between speed and quality when it comes to delivering advice to members, with agile execution setting a new benchmark for digital engagement in Australian super.”

Super Group joins other financial organisations such as AMP and NGS in introducing digital advice offerings to customers as a means to serve the ‘silver tsunami’ of retirees set to hit the market in the coming decades, the largest ever in Australian history.
