Kinnison Spies and Anna Verderame have both come on board as advice team leads in Findex’s wealth management division, expanding its advice leadership ranks.
Spies joins from Shaw and Partners where she was an executive manager in advice for almost two years, before which she led national paraplanning and consultancy practice Orbit Paraplanning for seven years, working as both a business consultant and senior paraplanner.
She also brings experience as an adviser after spending more than five years as a risk adviser and adviser support manager at Innovative Financial Solutions.
Verderame brings a background in advice and super with her most recent position being product and stakeholder manager of retirement solutions at Super SA, prior to which she was an advice performance coach at Telstra Super.
Looking back further, she also spent two years as general manager of Palladia Wealth Advisory and more than a decade with Commonwealth Bank as an advice manager.
Stepping into Findex, the pair will work together to support advisers through coaching and development while also focusing on building scale and efficient processes.
They will also play a key role in “helping shape the next phase of the advice team at Findex, with an emphasis on performance, advice quality, client outcomes, and leadership development”.
Spies said: “My vision is to help build a modern advice business that continues to attract great people at all levels, form clients, advisers, to future talent entering the profession. Anna and I are focused on scaling a high-performing advice culture that supports collaboration, consistency, and long-term growth.
“The advice industry is evolving quickly, and I think the firms that will thrive are the ones that can combine trusted client relationships with strong leadership, smart use of technology, and consistent advice standards. For me, that means investing in people, reducing unnecessary complexity, and embracing digital tools and AI in practical and safe ways that improve efficiency and support better decision‑making. Ultimately, this frees advisers to spend more time where they add the most value: with our clients.”
Verderame added: “I’m particularly excited about how technology can streamline the way we work and free advisers to focus on what matters most: deeper client relationships, quality conversations, and meaningful outcomes. By combining strong professional standards with smarter tools and a collaborative, empowered culture, we can position Findex as a leader in delivering advice that genuinely improves financial wellbeing across the communities we serve.”
Earlier this year, Findex completed the acquisition of Brisbane-based financial advice and accounting business Carthills, rolling them into the group’s Brisbane office and increasing its ranks within the state to more than 200 professionals.
Findex co-chief executive Tony Roussos said the move was part of a larger expansion strategy focused on partnering with established advice and accounting businesses.
“We’re pleased to welcome Carthills to the Findex network. This partnership represents more than business growth – it’s about shared values, genuine relationships and a collective commitment to helping our clients and communities thrive,” Roussos noted.
“Cultural fit is fundamental to our mergers and acquisitions approach. Our vision is to continue partnering with high-calibre firms that share our purpose of supporting clients, communities and advisers. The Carthills team have built a reputation for technical capability and strong client relationships.”
